Originally these drones were recorded in limited 10 cassettes, each one containing a music between 35 and 50 minutes based on some people and, amazingly, there was still a "ultra-limited edition" of 3 copies accompanied by a Walkman!!! I, in particular, had never seen such an original way of selling music (the closest I could remember were the 'In Search of The' series made by Buckethead)... Do not get me wrong, I believe that every artist has the right to survive financially from his/her art, as long as it's not concepted only for sale, art must came from the artist's soul and then find its audience. I also believe that people who love music so much must understand that artists need to pay their bills, go to the dentist, buy some food, and so on. At this point James found a really impressive way to balance artistic sincerity and an awesome way to create interest in his music!!!
The ‘sound in silence’ label reissued this material in a 200-copy limited edition, in a way that only they know how to make: a handmade album containing a CD and graphic material packed with a lot of affection!!! All the tracks in this work are sensational, heart-warming, extremely relaxing, occasionally loud and, at some times, have brought me musical memories of Rhys Chatham's Crimson Grail (for 400 Electric Guitars). Thank you ‘sound in silence’ for reissue this fantastic material and thank you James Vella for idealize such a unique work!!! Oh, when buying the CD, you still get a code to download the full versions of each songs...
