The Shrine of Primal Fire is an album by Italian atmospheric black metal act A Pale December. A fantastic record, thoroughly monumental, splendidly poetic and radically energized, it rises distinctively at the axis of an artistically pure and sensible perfectionism, that clearly envisions and creates a new dynamical perspective for the genre. Divinely primordial and gregarious from the beginning, this amazingly lucid and sagacious work has a colossal conjuncture of qualities able to majorly surprise and deeply impress all genre enthusiasts. A little more than fifty three minutes long, the record has seven tracks: The Path of Stars, Arboreal Sanctuary, Midwinter Ritual, Skygazer, Cimmerian Veil, Call of the Ancients and A Lost Lineage. With powerful guitar lines and gloriously ascendant melodies, The Shrine of Primal Fire is a majestic record, that eagerly projects at the epicenter of its harmonies the furious melancholy of an expansive existence, destined to advance the groundbreaking cosmogony of a life that is consumed by an everlasting storm of ashes.

With a pure and intact spirit of revolutionary and vivacious authenticity, the beauty of the harmonies is strikingly absolute. With a creative ordeal that genuinely reinvents the genre in a voracious amplitude of incomparable originality, A Pale December is a group energized by an ardent, placid and ambitious artistic renewal, where a sincere, but at the same time brutally emotional countdown creates a mortuary path of explicit virtuosity, greatly inserted at the crest of an infinite horizon of harmonious correlations, profoundly driven by an actively sophisticated arrangement of musical principles.

An amazing album, with an infuriatingly opaque, but expressively aggrandizing  sonorous structure, whose anatomy dissipates in a conflagration of imperiously frivolous vicissitudes a cohesive diagram of beautiful harmonies throughout a solitary universe of marvelous serenity, The Shrine of Primal Fire is a unique state of the art work, that passionately exhibits, one track after another, the overwhelming lucidity of an infinite alignment that sensationally see through eternal abysses of melodically ordained sensibilities the lancinating and dubious color of human apathy, reinstated by the discreet melancholy of a life that searches for a way out of the dark.

Combining an amazing string of ordinary atmospheric BM with a more glorious, original, poetic and sensitive degree of creative elements – sometimes flirting with a very avant-garde musical proposition –, without losing its voracious and brutal verve, The Shrine of Primal Fire, by A Pale December, is an amazingly true and glorifying masterpiece. One of the best albums of the genre that you will have the chance to hear in your lifetime! Be sure about that.
