So I was already rather curious to begin with. Yet, even then, it took my a while to finally get this write-up done. That's what you get when a website like this grow out of proportion I think. Not that I'm complaining.
'Captured Whispers' is not really a new album. It's more a collection of previously unreleased songs. Furthermore, this appears to be part 1 so I guess there will be another one released in the near future. Many artists have heaps of unreleased material lying around, stuff that is usually not fit for this or that album but too good not be shared with the world. I think that what this album is all about. It contains a bunch of gently, listener friendly guitar tunes that sound both melancholic and joyful.
In a way, these tracks feel like they are the foundation for elaborate post-rock songs. They're minimal, naked and playful, thus highly enjoyable to listen to. If I have to compare these to other artists, I think acts like Barn Owl, Expo 70 and Evan Caminiti come close. They too seem to perfectly combine that calm, soothing atmosphere with joyous guitar play. 'In The Deep Woods' is my personal favorite here but I think that every fan of relaxing guitar music can easily enjoy this. So check it out, you'll like it.
