Unfortunately, like I similarly pointed out in the other review I wrote about them, while the two musicians behind the project are, undoubtedly, clearly talented, vigorous, skillful and creative musicians, sometimes they are excessively too much daring, and sometimes they lack audacity at all. It seems that they are having a hard time trying to reach balance and equilibrium. In the case of Dreamtime Physics, contrary to their last effort, that was too excessively experimental, the lack of audacity here has left the album terribly inclined to monotony. Don’t misunderstand me: there are on this record some real good tracks, and their highly intelligent levels of experimentation have reached an interesting new path of artistic goals. But most of the album sounds excessively uniform, and after some time, it’s hard to be motivated to continue listening to it throughout the end.
Entheogenic’s avant-garde nouveau shamanic psychedelic psybient styled music can be quite distractive, dispersive and inexpressively vague most of the time, and since their albums are way too long, monotony can be considered an inevitable risk for the listener. So this record, for obvious reasons, doesn’t reach a higher scale of excellence at all. Nonetheless, I should point out the fact that some songs, as well as specific passages in some tracks, are indeed, carried out with the vigorous strength of a placid beauty, upon which the duo ably reconciles their art with the fascinating vigor of a poetic enlightenment, propelled by the lucid stream of an endless road that always seeks the most elevating truths that are on its way. In fact, if your expectancies are low, in a very modest evaluation, the whole album in general can be considered reasonably good.
So, while Dreamtime Physics can’t be considered amazing, majestic or wonderful, it does reach a very good, satisfactory level of artistry. With some degree of originality, a respectable level of innovations and a somewhat genuinely creative musical strength – if you don’t mind losing yourself a little bit in the too much excessively dispersive vagueness of their sometimes majorly diluted sound –, then Dreamtime Physics can be considered a decent, plausible and expressively good album, that, despite requiring some points of your patience at certain passages, can definitely give you an awesome time of joyful and relaxed moments as well.
