Rukous is an album released on December 4, by Finnish black metal band Goats of Doom. Forty-one minutes long, the record has seven tracks: Veressä on Perustani Juuret, Tuhkasta Valettu, Law ov Liberty, Sokeus Johtaa Kansaa, World Denied Lucifer's Light, Rukous and Riivaaja. An exceptional album, with a vigorous and marvelously dynamic sound – with its structural musical anatomy profoundly engraved and indebted to traditional rock’n’roll, without ever compromising their predominantly black metal stylistic features –, this is one of the most inventive, creative and original BM albums that I ever had the privilege to enjoy. Despite the fact that most songs are sung in the group’s native language, which gives to this graciously elegant album a charm and a uniqueness that are enormously fascinating, Rukous is majestically beautiful from the beginning, and deserves to be highlighted as the magnificent state of the art work that revealed itself to be.

With fluid and vivacious melodies, that revolves around an innovative and peculiar perception of artistry – saturated with a lancinating and enthusiastic vitality –, the sound of Goats of Doom delivered in this album is mostly elegant and genuine, and the melodies are delightfully conceived and delivered as a mosaic of planetary fragments, aligned by the restless collision of its radiant and consistent sonorous disposition. With a sophisticated, sensible and gracious style, whose harmonies alternate between aggressive, imperative, lucid and poetic, in a very natural continuity, the conflagration of an exponentially high level of creativity disperses into the songs a profound sense of tempestuous dynamic, that definitely promotes a brutal impulse of harmonies, that goes beyond ordinary musical boundaries or definitions.

With an unpredictable sound, whose unlimited expansion uses extensively the original virulence of its own proverbial catharsis, the music of Goats of Doom recreates black metal with a furious and methodic audacity, delivering a whole new conjuncture of creative standards, that definitely makes them a singular band in the history of the genre.

Displaying a solid and deeply authentic artistic proposal, with stylistic innovations that not only aggrandizes the genre, but repaginates entirely all the musical theorem upon which black metal has been conceived – without deforming the genre in the slightest –, Goats of Doom has crafted Rukous as a fundamental milestone. One of the best black metal albums of the century, the possibilities and contributions given to the genre are enormous, and impossible to be completely assimilated or evaluated.
