Trip Journal is an album released on March 1st by American record label Mindspring Music, an independent company specialized in several subgenres of psychedelic electronic music. Work of an artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico, named Ryan Hinchman – better known by the alias of Infrequency –, this exceedingly marvelous album has everything an ardent and passionate enthusiast of the genre might expect: smooth symphonies, gentle textures, aggrandizing playful cosmogonies, gracefully pungent harmonies, diluted colorful sonorous tonalities, all amazingly expanded into a profoundly authorial and genuine musical layout, whose ambitious energy revolves around the everlasting sensibilities of an impressively consistent and audacious creative splendor.

With resonant harmonies that incredibly dilutes the density of its own spectacular sonorous metamorphosis, the music of Trip Journal is a sagacious exposition of versatile and extemporal virtuosity, that dives deep into the most surreal and intermittent elements of the subgenre, though with a musical cohesiveness that solidifies the tempestuous ambivalence of an expansively gracious and lucid structural linearity. Overexposing an abrasive, though easy going conjuncture of elegant melodies that becomes ostensibly diffuse underneath the axis of an imperatively diluted dynamism, the music of Infrequency is characterized by a cathartic intensity that exhales a sober proficiency, whose liquid and discreet experimentalism definitely expresses a volatile rapture, whose drastically diluted grace foresees a creative universe where all artistic boundaries have been deleted.

With nine tracks – 1) The First Page; 2) Swimming on Mushroom Tea; 3)It's Breathing; 4) Lost; 5) Colored by the Sun; 6) Higher Mind; 7) Dissolve Boundaries; 8) Speaking in Frequencies; 9) Evolving Topology; – Trip Journal is a formidable and exceedingly marvelous album, whose creative audacity and astoundingly genuine level of artistry definitely elevates Infrequency into a superior and distinct pattern of musical splendor. While the artist maintains intact the most ordinary elements of the genre, his innovative degree of excellence and fearless authenticity shapes a new standard for psychedelic electronic music, way more dynamic, sober and vivacious than what we are used to normally hear.

A gloriously majestic album that definitely presents an artist that has an interesting and decisively virtuous conjuncture of qualities to conceive an experimental sound that has consistent potential to be more organic, transient and vivid in nature, Trip Journal can be considered a very diffuse, delightful and grandiose milestone, that undoubtedly represents a sensational evolutionary step into more mordacious and original creations into the scene.
