Opener 'Gods.will.be.watching' is a strong and quite insane industrial metal song that will immediately get you banging your head. It drives on groovy thrash metal riffs and issues those fearsome hardcore screams, much to my delight. I love industrial metal, especially if it's groovy like this one.
'Tides' seems to nudge more towards the sludge and post-metal scene, which for me personally makes it less interesting than the previous song. Nonetheless, as far as intensity and sheer musical madness is concerned, this one certainly convinces. 'Medic!' throws a bunch of death metal riffs into the mix, retaining the headbangers' attention. 'Creature Of Ion' sounds like Treponem Pal taking on Overkill songs and closer 'Slaves/Progress' seems to be a great combination of all of the above.
In all, this album is a surprisingly successful marriage between sludge metal and industrial thrash metal. Enhanced with movie samples and electronics, this one comes with plenty of variation, even though the general overtone is harsh and aggressive. In a way, I think this is only a taste of things to come. Today's metal scene contains way too few decent industrial metal bands. In that aspect, I can see great things happening for these guys from Leeds. I certainly hope so. So check it out, you might discover a new favorite.
