In short, 'Held' is a calm, soothing and immersive blend of electronic ambient and post rock. There are six tracks and the whole thing lasts for a bit over twenty minutes. There are elements of ambient, electronics, soundscapes and blissful post rock passages but never something harsh or obtrusive.
What I like most about the album, is the conceptual feel of the whole thing. The songs seamlessly flow into one another, turning them into one long and varied piece. The only thing I don't like, is the length, it's way too short. Then again, you can easily play this one a few times in a row. It will remain interesting, I promise you. You can even adjust the volume, making it calm background music and loud, immersive post rock.
I don't have a favorite track on this album, although I have to say I love the electronics in 'Over The Bay'. I also love the folky guitars in 'Soen' and I love everything else in every other song. So yes, I can only recommend the hell out of this album. If you're a fan of post rock and downtempo delights, you will not be disappointed by this thing. Personally, I'd like to see Hennessy do this live on day.
