Released on December 20, Cold, Scars And Your Galaxy is the most recent album by Russian atmospheric black metal project Shadowland. Almost forty two minutes long, the work has six longer tracks: Cold, Scars And Your Galaxy – the title track –, Hunt For Wolves, Sounds Of Fairytales, Lake Of 1000 Forgotten Shadows, These Eyes See The Universe Through The Snow and Favorite Place That Has Long Been Covered With Moss. A beautiful record, with a very classic musical sensitivity, exceedingly sonorous over a poetic density of timeless sincerity, the exponential strength of the work is a marvelous journey throughout the most pervasive, passive and genuine, but also wonderfully dilapidated elements of the genre.

In an increasingly tense, but also greatly diluted sense of everlasting divinity, the sound of Cold, Scars And Your Galaxy is perfectly palpable and human; from the depths of a painful cosmogony, the stylish reverberation of a glorious past emerges from the labyrinths of imagination, in a perpetual sense of splendorous and sensible antagonism. With majestically designed melodies, that carries over the wind of its gracefully infinite latitudes the tempestuous completeness of a realm built at the center of one’s soul, this record really has a formidable sense of dynamic realism, that vividly explores at the height of its warm nucleus the intermittent cycles of peripheral harmonies slowly elaborated at the expenses of the highest principles of a philosophy yet to be deciphered by men.

With a poetic sense of moderation, that explores a serene sound eager to calm down the visceral platitudes of the heart, this album really establishes at the forefront of its aggrandizing, yet subtle harmonies, an interesting conjuncture of melodies, that brings about the best the genre of atmospheric black metal has to offer to its audience, in a voraciously calm, but delightful sphere of expansive sonorous confluences, already predisposed to anticipate and to decipher the most difficult restlessness of the human condition.

Almost diffusing an atmosphere of its own, the record is abundant in beautiful passages, and relaxing musical aphorisms. Masterly expanding the vibrating authenticity of an unique and very singular style, Shadowland delivers to its audience on this Cold, Scars And Your Galaxy a very interesting work, that has a lot to offer to enthusiasts of the genre.
