This album by French one-man atmospheric black metal project Time Lurker is the culmination of his two previous EP's. Influenced by acts like Altar Of Plagues, Krallice and Leviathan, this project brings his own blend of modern day black metal, firmly rooted in the atmospheric scene of the nineties but also looking into the present day's post metal scene. The result is something well varied with plenty of tempo changes, soul ripping vocals and an interesting mix between melancholy and sheer musical violence. For lack metal fans, this would certainly make an excellent addition to their collection, especially with an epic track like opener 'Rupture'.

Four of the seven tracks on this album are quite long ones, ranging from eight to eleven minutes. Although the opener remains my favorite, the others are just as epic, immersive and varied, which obviously is a good thing in the black metal scene. 'Judgment' is a fierce piece of music, bringing the awesome nineties sound to the mix. Fans of Darkthrone, Immortal and all those other blackened deities can trust Time Lurker to deliver the goods.

'Reborn' is a nice post-whatever tune, a breather between the intense black metal in the other tracks and a perfect intro for the murderous 'No Way Out From Mankind'. That song is a gut ripper, vile, extreme and intense. It's also a bit insane but that's a pretty good aspect if you're a black metal act. In fact, everything about this album is pretty good if you're a black metal fan. Therefore I can only recommend this thing to all you blackened souls out there. This is a great album, loaded with everything you like about this genre.
