Maltrér is an album by German black metal group Verheerer, released on January 19. A little more than forty eight minutes long, the record has seven tracks: Oratio, Kultyst, Vertigo, Maltrér, Anima Sola, Nachtfall and Heimgang. Old school black metal of the best kind, Maltrér has consistency, fury, rapid guitar lines, a hostile vocal presence, and exceedingly surprising rhythms. Definitely, a very interesting work, that honors the traditional standards of the genre, with a very astute, precise and categorical cohesion.

With somber harmonies, that expresses at the same time the vivacity of its laborious rapture filled with the agonizing despondency of its desperate harmonious conflagrations, Verheerer definitely exposes at the dark abysses of a universe’s demise the glorious assumptions of hazardous, intense and deleterious symphonies, that exposes at critical moments to its audience the reality of an impatient agony, descending into a very personal purgatory. The sensorial crusade of their sound rehabilitates the majesty of an overlooking fear, that gets more real, as the sound introduces the listener deeper and deeper into the precipices of their sinister dimension of condescending laments and afflictive disorder.

Verheerer’s sound captures perfectly a disturbing sense of nefarious desolation. With a majestic abundance of aggressive passages as well, Maltrér seems to rescue with splendid honesty the true elements of the genre, being a formidable inheritance to the authentic spirit of black metal, diffusing with whimsical glory, and a marvelously dilapidated style, a brutally crafted and sincerely conceived proverbial sound, fully equipped with technical sapience, and a fantastic degree of thunderous virulence.

Maltrér is a very good album, that doesn’t disappoint. With ferocious harmonies and an aggressive sense of atrocious certainty, their style really has the power to rejuvenate the genre, with solid return to its origins. With an intelligent ability that has on the authenticity of its cataclysmic behavior the capacity to make the world fade into the nothingness of fatalism, the pretentious, but overwhelmingly audacious and original sound of Verheerer certainly makes this album , already, one of the best black metal albums of the year.
