In my review for their awesome 'The Harvest' album, I kinda predicted that Stoned Jesus would be a part of this year's Desertfest. And see, I was right. This highly versatile rock band takes influences from decades of guitar music and blends it all into searing hot party music.
Let's hope I was right about this too: At this moment I imagine a highly energetic live performance in front of a frenzied crowd.
Arguably the godfathers of Belgian noise-rock, Vandal X have been around for quite some time now. They recorded with Steve Albini and supported bands like Melt Banana, Fugazi and Sonic Youth. On Desertfest, they will guarantee an energetic live show.
Ufomammut have been dominating Trix before and no doubt these Italian stoner doomers will do exactly that again. I missed them at Incubate but luckily they didn't have an exclusivity-clause in their contract.
This will probably be one of the greatest surprises on Desertfest. Papir hails from Denmark and plays instrumental psychedelic rock, influenced by krautrock, jazz and drone music. This will be an awesome trip, no doubt about it.
I can't resist instrumental rock music, especially when it's hypnotic and immersive. From The Netherlands come Monomyth, bringing exactly that to one of the Desertfest stages. Their album 'Further' is a blast and, according to what I heard, so are their live-performances.
Effortlessly combining thirty years of rock music into elaborate pieces of psychedelic music seems to be the trade mark of Causa Sui. Droney pieces, fuzzed-out passaged and downright hypnotic music will fill the Trix venue and warm up everyone inside.
Mars Red Sky
Somewhere between seventies psychedelic rock and doom metal dwells a French band by the name of Mars Red Sky. These guys have proven to be a solid, energetic live act with a good sense of songwriting too.
From Sweden doomcult Monolord is planning to take over the world where bands like Conan and Yob roam. Hailing the massive power of the riff, this trio is about to crush Trix once again and leave no survivors.
