The Arabian world usually isn't know for its metal scene. However, there is some true talent over there, talent that often risks their lives by playing this kind of music. Here in the West, we can't imagine that. The worst thing that can happen to you as a metalhead is a weird look from other people or some boos because your band really sucks. AlNamrood is one of those bands who try to put the Arabian metal scene on the map, and they're pretty damn good at it too. Therefore, we couldn't resist asking them about their Songs With Stories.
AlNamrood - Atba’a AlNamrood:

The main song which we based our band concept on: Nimrod is a king who defied God and apposed Ibrahim, it was a perfect theme for our band. In addition, it was the first track for us to try some traditional Arabic instruments such as Darbuka, an experimental track by definition but it was the set point sail for our work.

AlNamrood - A’hd Al Jahiliyah:

one of the main pillars of the AlNamrood concept is to illustrate the ignorance-era, which was a very influential era for us. This song also took its right to have some traditional instruments such as Qanun, we succeeded in making the right atmosphere, this song is valable for all of our songs because of its uniqueness by all ways.
Nile – Kafir:

For a long time ago we wanted to use that song title for one of our works, but Nile did it before us. Nile was a big inspiration as they artistically combined death metal with the ancient Egyptian atmosphere, just like perfection, no flaws. We hold huge respect for these guys, for the epic evilness they produce. In particular this song means a lot for us because it touches our lives. Killing the infidels were a must in the Islamic system and we were taught in schools to not have any positive emotion towards the infidels.  By any means this song nailed what we wanted say anyways.
Marduk - Accuser/Opposer:

What can I say about Marduk? The most blasphemous band that ever existed (with respect to other bands) but this band nailed the aggression, extreme metal and strong blast beats correctly. Marduk is viewed to us as an inspiration for extreme metal and anti-religion.  The song Accuser/Opposer was just the perfect song to describe our situation and struggles with religious regime and also our action towards it.
The Exploited - Beat the Bastards:

In our life, not only we’ve been abused by religion but also by the system which allowed the empowerment of religion and oppression by many contexts. The band “The Exploited” as the name suggests, describes how we are abused by governments and those with authority but not only that, it also describes our reaction toward them. We are not slaves of system, no more!
