After 11 years in activity, 8 releases and 4 international tours, three years after an acclaimed split EP with the Canadian one-man-band thisquietarmy, Brazilian post-rockers/post-metallers Labirinto just released their brand new full-length album called 'Gehenna' (including a special collaboration on one track with Matthieu Vanderkerckhove from AmenRa, Syndrome...) for CD and Digital on the main legal platforms through Dissenso Records. In addition to this official release-news, the band also streamed its album for full (below), just unveiled a brand new music video for the song "Enoch" and already planned a new European Tour on 2017.
After an extensive tour in Europe last year, they started the recording of the awaited second full length effort, counting with the production of the great sound engineer Billy Anderson, known for his works with Melvins, Neurosis, Fantomas, Swans...
Sad news for fans of Swedish psychedelic rockers Graveyard. A few days ago, they announced their split on facebook:
Dark clouds above the graveyard today.
Due to the all so classic reason "differences within the band" the Graveyard is as of today officially closed. This is the unfortunate final decision we've had to make after going through a period of struggling n juggling with personal issues. Things have gone out of hand and now our energy is very low. As a direct result of this we're sorry to say that all scheduled touring is cancelled.
Graveyard have always been more about the music than the talking and that approach is the way we intend to deal with this situation also. What we can say is that we don't know if and when the Graveyard will re-open and return in full force.
Stay tuned, stay awesome & No endless night in sight.
Joakim, Axel, Truls, Jonatan
Of course, because of the immediate split, Graveyard will not be performing at Desertfest this year. But they've found a replacement:
We've hunted high and low for a suitable replacement for Graveyard after their unfortunate and most unexpected split last week, which caused them to cancel their show at our festival. With only a few weeks to go, you can imagine it wasn't an easy task to find a band that was available, in the neighbourhood, and willing to adapt their schedule in order to fit in a last-minute gig.
The good news is: we've found them, and their name is COLOUR HAZE!
The German powerhouse will appear at the festival on Saturday, so there will only be a minor shift in the schedule.
Following this news, we will grant our fans some more time to reclaim their Saturday day ticket. Send us a mail at email@example.com with your payment details and ticket number, and we'll take care of it.
We extend this offer until after the weekend, so it expires on Monday Oct 3 at 12pm.
After that, we put this regrettable episode behind us for good, and we set our phasers on full-on ROCK! See y'all at the festival!

No Good Advice release debut video
Well, that was confusing for a second. I thought Ukrainian stoner rock band Stoned Jesus had released a new video but apparently it was Italian heavy rockers No Good Advice who did. Of course, in my defense, I have to mention that 'Stoned Jesus' is the title of this song. Furthermore, the song is way too groovy not to share. So check out these guys. They rock!!!
La Chinga release video
Another heavy hitting new video comes from Canadian psychedelic rockers La Chinga. They release a video for the song 'Gone Gypsy'. The song comes from the album 'Freewheelin'' which was released by Small Stone Records.
Three shaggy haired men lost in the valley on a summer's day are picked up by a roaming band of strange of Boogie van neer'do'wells and are taken to the secret backwoods compound where the booze, bikes, broads, and Rock begin to flow in ridiculous amounts! As the sun sets the heat begins to rise...and so does the electric riffage! And then the deranged mayhem ensues! Warning! Not for the faint of heart! Pregnant women! Small children! Those with a delicate condition are warned to not watch this high rollin' low brow goin' freak fest! The living word in the flesh is presented here on the silver screen! Righteous and loose! Free and easy! Three men unbound, unchained and the pulchritudinous women who love them! La Chinga! In "Gone Gypsy"

Following the release of their acclaimed album 'What One Becomes' earlier this year, SUMAC will be releasing 'Before You I Appear', a limited 12" EP featuring nearly 30 minutes of remixes featuring tracks reconfigured by the likes of Samuel Kerridge, Bleed Turquoise (aka James Ginzburg of Emptyset), Kevin Drumm and Japan’s ENDON. The results range from impossibly dense and perpetually ascending psych-noise blowouts, to subdued passages of subtly curdled drones punctuated by disembodied vocal excretions.

3. Image of Control (Tokyodionysis Remix by Endon)

Post-rock legends Wang Wen from China premiered a brand new track, listen to the album title track "Sweet Home, Go!" below
Sweet Home, Go! is the 9th studio album from Chinese leading experimental post-rock band, Wang Wen.
Sweet Home, Go! follows hot on the heels of Wang Wen’s ambitious vinyl, photo book and DVD box set, entitled In Course of The Miraculous: a collaboration with Chinese cinematographer Cheng Ran, who hired the band to compose a soundtrack for a 9 (!) hour film, which involved an improvised performance of the band in an artificially flooded warehouse.
The packaging of Sweet Home, Go! is equally spectacular: 2 different inner sleeves (printed on the inside and outside) are showing through the die cut hole of an outer box sleeve, printed on a special kind of fabric paper – creating a total of 4 different front cover impressions, depending on which sleeve and which side is up. An additional 30x30 cm art book comes with the vinyl version.
This kind of attention to detail is indicative of a band that take outstanding care not only about their music, but also about the visual and haptic aspects of their art... Wang Wen profess a holistic approach to art, focused (but not solely limited) on their extraordinary music...
Following last week's single premiere of title track "Requiem For Hell", today Japan's MONO premiered the accompanying video!

Today, Merchants Of Air turns two. If our website was a child, it would now start questioning everything, constantly asking us 'why, why, why' and then shit it's diaper. Luckily, we're merely a website, founded by some adults who knows what belongs where. So the only disturbing sounds you'll hear from us, is a nice selection of tunes by all kinds of different artists and bands featured on Merchants Of Air.
To celebrate our birthday, we asked acts to send in a song and no less than sixty-two tracks have been sent back to us. In these sixty-two tracks, you can find all kinds of metal, ambient, alternative rock, dance music, some noise and even some stuff you'd never knew existed. Some of the tracks are exclusive to this compilation, made especially for us. Isn't that nice.
So if all those people were so nice, we also decided to be nice and put the compilation up for free download, or pay-what-you-want, depending on how nice you are (hèhè).

Tactus release new video and album details
Canadian five piece progressive metal band Tactus will release their debut full length 'Bending Light' on October 7th. The album features ten outer limit prog tracks, produced by the band with mixing and mastering by Jamie King (Between The Buried In Me, Paradise Lost, Scale The Summit). The album follows their previously released EPs 'ins(T)rumental' (2015) and 'T' (2014) plus singles 'Enigma' and their metal cover of The Police's 'Roxanne' (listen). As an appetizer, they now released the video for the song 'Goliath'.
The band comments on the track:
"Goliath is one of the longest song's we've ever written, and it actually went through the most iterations and re-writes of any song on the album. We think it captures some of the more progressive spirit of Bending Light, and is a great reflection of the directions in which we want to push our music in the future. We were beyond honoured to have incredible guitarist and our good friend Didier Archambault of Cardinals Pride put the cherry on top with the first guitar solo on the track."
The album is available for pre-order at the following links.

Pilod release new video, announce new album
Belgian alternative rockers Pilod will release their second album 'Black Swan' on October 22. As an appetizer, they revealed the video for the title track.
The band comments: "The new album is named 'Black Swan' in which the theme of the black swan, the impact of the highly improbable, will appear and that will explore a world closer to home. Wringing guitars and hidden melodies, which go back to our early roots in the 1990ies, are still the basic features of the music, but have evolved into a different sound thanks to the new line-up. Whether it is somber urgency, threatening explosiveness or a hypnotic procession pace, the songs take their time to develop and receive a direct and intense impact when played live...."
Sombre Soniks release 'Dark Ambient 12' compilation

The band have announced no details for the record except a tentative release date in Feb 2017. Demonstealer commented, "More than money being a motivation, for us the pledge campaign was launched to share this experience with our fans before anyone else. I believe the fan-artist relationship is closer than ever and platforms like pledge music bypass the social media giants like Facebook and Twitter and let you interact with fans 1 on 1. So for us this campaign is about sharing the album name, tracklist, artwork, songs etc with the fans before anyone else. So we're really excited to embark on this journey. At this point we don't have any release details for how the album is released after the campaign but we are in talks with some labels, so fingers crossed."

Damned Pilots sign with Sliptrick Records, announce new album
Damned Pilots announce the release of their new cd ‘Overgalaxy’ via Sliptrick Records due to be available in Winter 2016. ‘Overgalaxy’ is a steam punk concept album as drummer/founder Don Nutz says ”..it is built on the story of four cartoon characters, The Damned Pilots Don Nutz, Sgt Ote, Willer Hertz and Erik Space. They travel through space in the year 2500 A.C. on a 1970 ‘s hippy van customized to fight against their archenemy Gorguss and his evil empire”.
The lyrics, written by Sgt Ote, are about love and hate, war and peace, past and future, rebellions against failed systems, with the sense of humor typical of a sci-fi b-movie. The album has been recorded at Track Terminal Studio in Trieste, Italy by Francesco Bardy, except ‘Just Another Day’, ‘People Don’ t Die’ at Voodoosound Studios in Ijmuiden, Holland by Paul van Rijswijk.
‘Overgalaxy’ is produced by Ron Goudie (Gwar, Death Angel, Poison) and mixed and mastered by legendary producer Bill Metoyer (W.A.S.P., Trouble, Slayer). as the artwork (due to be revealed soon) has been made by Philipino artist Uzi Emperado.
‘Overgalaxy’ features nine songs written by Don Nutz and Sgt Ote and one by Ron Goudie (‘Hell Is Cold’). The style goes from mid tempo groovy metal to doom metal and psychedelics ballads combined by catchy melodies. ‘Damned Pilots’ and ‘Season of the endings’ are two groovy metal pounding numbers dominated by solid huge riffs made to bang your head to.

Scum announce new album
Born in 1998, Scum moved from small time garage metal band to national act, with its own signature sound, an incendiary blend of Bay Area Old School metal and modern soundscapes, all embedded in a nightmare of claustrophobia! Such is the concept behind their up-n-coming album ‘Humana’ where no-nonsense lyrics are vomited over a carpet of melting thrash/death metal.
Dealing with different issues, the album “Humana” is an attempt to elaborate about human nature, what humanity means, and what role could have mankind in modern society (The intro is a Gustav Jung’s speech about human as the origin of all evil.)
Humana was recorded, mixed and produced by Stefano “Saul” Morabito at “16th Cellar Studio”
(Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hour of Penance, Hideous Divinity, Adimiron and many more…) in Rome, while the artwork, by Carlo Settembrini (also vocalist of Scum) and due to be revealed soon is an allusion to the human tendency to be driven by the trends, ignoring all the limitless
potential of the individual , in favour of something bigger than the individual itself.
Scum has shredded stages for 18 years along with bands such as Node, Eyeconoclast, Subliminal Crusher, Hour of Penance and more as well as being officially endorsed by Schecter Guitar Research. The new album will be released by Sliptrick Records

Belgian noise act Hellstorm Of Flaming Nothingness has just unleashed a new ep, named 'Void' with three renewed versions of years-old tracks. You can download it fromhis bandcamp page
In his words:
As well as being featured on the new Merchants Of Air Year Two compilation, i have decided to unleash some older, harsher material in the form of a new EP. i was hesitant to release it under the HOFN moniker at first, due to the more abrasive nature of the sounds but i've come to the conclusion that there is room on the spectrum.
So I said to Björn that there are about 1200 unread emails in our inbox. It startled him a bit. The massive amount of news and releases surely was something we never expected. But we decided not to panic. We don't have a lot of writers and not everybody has the time to write articles every single day, so it is simply impossible to check everything, even though we want to. Shortly after that conversation with Björn, the success of our "Brieviews" series inspired me to create something similar in the new section, something that made us able to publish more news in less time. So now, I present "The Rock 'n Scroll", a long article with new videos, new songs and other stuff. Enjoy...

Planes Mistaken For Stars reveal new song + album details & tourdates
Listen to the second single from Planes Mistaken For Stars’ upcoming fourth studio album 'Prey', titled “Riot Season”. The song, like much of the album, is an instant Planes Mistaken For Stars classic; multi-layered, melodic, and infectious in a way that only PMFS can be.
Vocalist/guitarist Gared O’Donnell commented on the song:
“In regard to ‘Riot Season,’ it’s one of my faves and was, I believe, the last song slapped together for Prey. Largely based off of some riffs of [guitarist Neil Keener’s] — much to his chagrin, he always ends up pooh-poohing his songs — I wrote the lyrics with a LeatherFace, New Model Army, Killing Joke kind of vibe in mind. Political, without painting ourselves in a corner. Every generation has a crucial time, a violent time, a time of dread. This is our time. Read between the lines, it’s vital we draw a line in the sand regarding control of ourselves, our dreams, our rights, our spirits. It is clear we are all privy to the puppet show, it’s up to you to decide if you are gonna pay for the ticket.”
Their first new album in a decade, Prey will be released on October 21st, 2016 (Deathwish Inc.) and was produced and engineered by Sanford Parker (Wovenhand, Leviathan, Yob). This new album signals that the figurative slumber is over for this brilliant cult status band.

Turbid North release video for ‘Pyramid Drones’
Alaskan Mountain Metal crew Turbid North have launched a brand new video for the track ‘Pyramid Drones’. The song is taken from their second full length album ‘Eyes Alive’ which is penned for release on 30th September via Apocalyptic Witchcraft. The album is released on limited edition 180 gram blood red vinyl and comes with a patch.
Vocalist Nick comments:
“The video was shot in an awesome venue we play regularly in Fort Worth, TX called Tomcats West. We rented some lights and one camera on a tripod to film ourselves. Did about 10 takes with different angles. No camera man, completely DIY. It isn’t the most action packed video, but we needed something quick and I really thought it was important to show off the new lineup.”
‘Eyes Alive’ is a concept album based in a dystopian future where the sun is a red giant and life on earth is a constant struggle to survive. The record was a complete DIY effort – recorded, mixed and mastered by vocalist/guitarist Nick Forkel at his Black Ram Studios.
“When we started to write this album our original singer and other guitarist left the band very early in the process. We decided to carry on as a 3 piece and continued writing. We wrote for a solid month, recording everything we did, then I took all those recordings and basically wrote the songs out of those jam sessions over the next couple of months.”
