After a first track on our compilation and another one on Soundcloud, Belgian experimental ambient act Misantronics has premiered a new track from the upcoming album 'InnerGazer'. 'Furia' is the opening track for the album, representing hidden angers and dark fears. Along with this new track, Misantronics also revealed the complete album details, including the cover and eight photographs accompanying the different tracks.
About the new album, Misantronics comments: "After Contraformance, I wanted to do something completely different, so I started creating electronic percussion sequences and using those as a foundation for downtempo electronic ambient music. In the past, I've already recorded some tracks in this style, but never a whole album. I don't know if 'Inner Gazer' is the new Misantronics sound, but it sure was interesting to experiment with these sounds." 'InnerGazer' will be released by Sombre Soniks in November.
American post-rock legends Caspian have just released two new songs. “Castles High, Marble Bright” has been released with a short film that documents Caspian’s recent European tour. There is also a limited edition 8" vinyl pressing of the single (1k pressed) pre-order one now and get an instant download, single will be shipping first week of November. You can order the 8" single here.
About the new songs, Philip Jamieson comments: "Castles High, Marble Bright" was conceived, written and recorded alongside the collection of songs that would become Dust and Disquiet, an album that sought to capture the dialogue between a newly found, furrow browed cynicism and a fractured but unbroken sense of stubbornly epic, dramatically determined optimism that we've been trying to emulate with our music for 12 years. The 60 minutes of Dust and Disquiet ended up speaking a bit to both; Castles..." speaks exclusively and entirely to the latter. We find ourselves over a year later touring behind this collection of songs still, with over 150 shows in 30 countries across 3 continents in the can. With the end finally in sight as we look to close out this 4 year chapter together, "Castles High, Marble Bright" is our North Star, our way home, and our celebration of that decision to fully embrace the above dialogue head on, all the while finding that, indeed still, hope lies within. "127 North" is the sound of 6 guys playing in a room together on a Friday afternoon, and is in some ways the least ambitious thing we've ever committed to tape. Free from the grip of over arrangement, overdubs, click tracks, excessive chin stroking and the like, "127 North" is what a Caspian song sometimes sounds like in its infancy. It's a vulnerable moment for us to introduce people to a song that exists in this kind of limbo, somewhere between improvisation and a fully composed piece of music. It's an honest moment and all a part of the process, of course. Maybe it's time to invite people behind the curtain a little... there's some old couches, a few beers and maybe a few high fives back here waiting for you. Some days are less serious than others, and that's quite alright with us. ![]()
'Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground', a book by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind about the early Norwegian black metal scene, will apparently be turned into a movie. The film, will be directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who actually drummed for Bathory between 1983 and 1984 (and directed videos for Beyonce, Rolling Stones and Madonna).
The film will star Emory Cohen, Jack Kilmer and Sky Ferreira, Rory Culkin (Signs and Scream 4) and will be a cooperation between Vice Films, Insurgent Media, Chimney Pot and 20th Century Fox. Of course, it will be based on true events and include church burnings, murders and absolute chaos, as it will follow the life or Euronymous, member of Mayhem and murder victim of Varg Vikernes (Burzum)
Aftera first video and US tourdates some time ago, Belgian hardcore horde Oathbreaker have revealed another video, one for the harsh and intense song 'Immortals'. The song from their newest album 'Rheia', which was released last month viaDeathwish Inc
vocalist Caro Tanghe explains: "The song is about emotional betrayal and how that numbed me for a long time. Being apathetic to any form of social and emotional engagement. In the video we wanted to push the viewer in a voyeuristic position. Looking at scenes you're not allowed to see. It's a weird, awkward sexual setting and the lead person is not part of it. It's about being numb to your surroundings, apathy in an extreme situation as this."
Belgian jazz/rock combo TaxiWars, featuring dEUS frontman Tom Barman and giften saxophonist Robin Verheyen, have released a video for the track 'Bridges'. The song is an uplifting piece of jazz rock, reminding me a bit of acts like Red Snapper or Herbie Hancock meets Nick Cave meets Herbaliser, or something like that. Anyway, the song comes from the new album 'Fever', which is planned to be released on November 18th via Universal Jazz

Well, we might come over as being quite patriotic today but here's another brilliant act from Belgium. Dark ambient and industrial project Ah Cama-Sotz has released a number of sound snippets from his new album 'Murder Themes III'. The album is available on Hands.
After the sensual downbeat fantasy “State of Mind”, Ah Cama-Sotz releases a full dark ambient album that’s widely devoid of rhythm: A meticulously crafted hour of music that may well serve as an exorcism. Electronic sounds and synthetic strings paint a sonorous background, cryptic samples and angelic choirs conjure up the enigmatic. For the dark-minded, this promises highly cinematic entertainment, purification in eleven movements.
Belgian dark metal combo Emptiness have revealed a track from their upcoming album 'Not For Music'. The song, titled 'Meat Heart' shows an interesting new sound from a band that never seems to stop evolving. You can pre-order the album on Season Of Mist.

The album features an all-star cast consisting of members from Cradle of Filth, Epica, Sonata Arctica, Arch Enemy, Delain, Dragonforce, Amaranthe and many more, but also the Grammy Award winning Metropole Orchestra adding a symphonic layer on top of heavy guitars and other electronic and ethnic instruments.
