Bliksem is one of Belgium's rising metal stars, using amazing thrash riffs, pounding drums and the powerful voice of Peggy.  This is a force to be reckoned with, that's for sure.  No wonder Flotsam & Jetsam asked them as their support act on the upcoming tour.  See poster below.

Cruachan issues statement regarding bizarre copyrights claims by Debauchery

A legal dispute about the words 'Blood God' has baffled Irish folk metal band Cruachan.  It seems that German death metal band Debauchery owns those two words.  As stupid as this might seems, this is some b***s*** I would never expect in the metal world.  Below is the official statement from Cruachan.

Hi, Just to give you all an update on some legal crap that has been happening with the title of our latest album. Just before the end of last year our record label received an email from Thomas Gurrath from the German Death Metal band Debauchery. He told them (and showed them) that he has copyright for the 2 words “Blood God” in the territory of Germany. He threatened our label and told them he will sue them for releasing our album which is called “Blood for the Blood God”. (Cruachan never heard of Debauchery before any of this). He demanded all products be taken off shelves and nothing be sold with the words Blood God on it. Our label tried to reason with him because this is completely ridiculous, petty and childish. Cruachan and Debauchery are two completely different bands and the name Blood God is relevant to Irish mythology and history as that is how some people refer to Crom Cruach. We really see no reason why he had this mission to stop our albums being sold. He did not care what our label had to say. We have never seen anything like this happen in the metal scene, you would expect it from much bigger bands. We fail to see how Cruachan using the name “Blood God” will affect anything Debauchery do or affect their sales or whatever. So, as a result, our label have come to an agreement where we can sell off the existing Cruachan merchandise but can produce no more to sell in Germany. (We plan to use the title “Blood for Crom Cruach” going forward for Germany only). He has also received a financial compensation as well. From now on we cannot make any more merchandise that has “Blood God” written on it. Cruachan have kept out of all of this and allowed the record label try and fix this issue. As they and Debauchery have reached an agreement we feel it was time to tell our fans what Thomas Gurrath has done to us. Our record label can no longer sell merchandise in Germany with the word “Blood God”, we can still sell outside Germany with the original title but Trollzorn are a German label, this is a real disaster for them. Thank you Thomas Gurrath for doing this to us for no real reason! What has happened to artistic integrity? Or empathy with bands trying to survive in this current musical situation, there should be solidarity between bands – not this disgraceful behaviour!!!!

Josh Graham’s Solo Project IIVII Signs With Consouling Sounds

27/4/2015

Founding member of Red Sparowes and Battle of Mice, Josh Graham currently plays in A Storm of Light and was a member of Neurosis, handling visuals for the Oakland collective, as well as collaborated with a great number of artists such as Jarboe, Blood and Time, Tombs, Syndrome, and Tribes of Neurot.

IIVII focuses on sonically engulfing and moody soundscapes, layered with a sci-fi edge. This approach has allowed Graham to expand his sonic body of work and explore new electronic territory, focusing on the subtle orchestration and manipulation of dense sonic atmospheres, rather than the bombastic approach found in A Storm of Light.

Depicting a derelict space colony in view of Saturn, the artwork was also completed by Graham, who currently serves as art director for Soundgarden, and has also created artwork for bands like Jesu, Shrinebuilder, Sleep, Vattnet Viskar and Isis.

IIVII’s debut album “Colony” will be released in September on CD, Vinyl and Digital-download via Consouling Sounds. More details will be announced soon, follow IIVII’s facebook page for more updates.

We honestly can't wait to hear this stuff...

Bay Area record stores, call for stolen items

We at Merchants Of Air despise thieves who break into houses of hard working people like the good people at Life Changing Ministry.  They're calling out to stores and record collectors to find many items stolen during a break-in.

Here is their official statement.

Hello, we had another break in last night, and our record store was taken, as well as a bunch of audio gear., a bunch of personal and collective tools, and some really personal records, cassettes and other non replaceable items.. Reaching out to folks at Bay Area record stores, etc to please be on the lookout for a bunch of experimental records coming through, we have a full inventory that will be posted shortly, thanks for your continued love and support, we couldn't do it without you.

We don't do police, and we never will, however if you see this stuff floating around please let us know ,

obviously we need to make some serious security improvements, which we've been working on but not fast enough, as they are expensive and very time consuming. we want this to be a safe and beautiful space for both audience and performers to feel comfortable at ,and right now we aren't quite at that point we we want to keep lcm alive, so, for now we ask that you please keep your eyes peeled, as always , you can contact us with leads, positive words, or anything really at lcmoakland@gmail.com
