Transcending Obscurity releases year-end label sampler

As a gift to everyone who supported the label and watched it grow tremendously throughout 2016, Indian extremists Transcending Obscurity have released a samples with no less than 55 songs. You can download the album here.
The label comments:
The struggle is real. Most of you have witnessed the growth of a label that was primarily about Indian bands. Now the tables have turned so to speak and it's time for sub-divisions to get phased out in favour of one strong label as a whole. While region-specific sub-labels for both India and Asia currently exist, the same time next year things will be differently poised. We have no vinyl or tape manufacturing units over here but one way or the other, we are keen to add those formats to our releases in 2017.

Rachel Mason reveals new video

Performance artist Rachel Mason presents the video for 'Roses', a track from her new album ‘Das Ram' LP, co-released by Los Angeles-based Cleopatra Records and artist-run cassette label Practical Records present new album ‘Das Ram'LP. Comprised of eight tracks, this album conveys the stories of specific characters, who define and delight in their own realities and cosmologies, and individuals who create their own world views, their own religions, and fantasy lives.
'Das Ram' is an inversion of the name of renowned healer Ram Dass, and also a play on Mason's own initials, Rachel Ann Mason. The track “Roses”, produced and co-written by Jeff Hassay, is a powerful anthem with Mason's crisp sonorous vocals and positively loaded drive.
The 'Roses' video was produced and directed by Los Angeles-based artist team BeckandCol. They also contribute costumes and choreography, while Mason created the masks, one of the hallmark features of her live shows. In their work, BeckandCol use humor and chaos to investigate the crisis of human exceptionalism. “Their work explores alternate universes populated with monsters, who obsess over humanity and emulate its dominant attributes," says Rachel Mason. "Their monsters resist any classification built on hierarchy or a merely binary opposition and instead exposes hierarchical behaviors as absurdities, forcing a rethinking of social and cultural norms.

A Tree Grows reveals new single & video

In advance of announcing their debut album through Rufftone Records, Brooklyn-based A Tree Grows present 'Wau Wau Water', the first single from their self-titled debut EP. Involving some of the most talented musicians on the New York scene, they create a unique stew with jazz at its core, blended with afrobeat, rock and experimental sounds.
Each composition on this coming LP surrounds a difference concept, describing a distinct state in the evolution of life on earth. The images are snapshots, extending from the beginning of life to the emergence of emotions, to aspects of modern human life. The cycle closes with possibilities for future development: self perpetuating intelligence. The composition Wau Wau Water is based on the following concept: "Enzymes are forming in a prehistoric ocean - evolving into bacteria. A stew of life is brewing, the cycle starts and intensifies in this patch of fertile Wau Wau Water."
"Defining and discussing these concepts during the rehearsal and recording process created a sense of purpose among the musicians and a deeper engagement with the compositions. This has transformed our creative process," explains Emanuel Ruffler.
