So I said to Björn that there are about 1200 unread emails in our inbox. It startled him a bit. The massive amount of news and releases surely was something we never expected. But we decided not to panic. We don't have a lot of writers and not everybody has the time to write articles every single day, so it is simply impossible to check everything, even though we want to. Shortly after that conversation with Björn, the success of our "Brieviews" series inspired me to create something similar in the new section, something that made us able to publish more news in less time. So now, I present "The Rock 'n Scroll", a long article with new videos, new songs and other stuff. Enjoy...

Planes Mistaken For Stars reveal new song + album details & tourdates

Listen to the second single from Planes Mistaken For Stars’ upcoming fourth studio album 'Prey', titled “Riot Season”. The song, like much of the album, is an instant Planes Mistaken For Stars classic; multi-layered, melodic, and infectious in a way that only PMFS can be.
Vocalist/guitarist Gared O’Donnell commented on the song:
“In regard to ‘Riot Season,’ it’s one of my faves and was, I believe, the last song slapped together for Prey. Largely based off of some riffs of [guitarist Neil Keener’s] — much to his chagrin, he always ends up pooh-poohing his songs — I wrote the lyrics with a LeatherFace, New Model Army, Killing Joke kind of vibe in mind. Political, without painting ourselves in a corner. Every generation has a crucial time, a violent time, a time of dread. This is our time. Read between the lines, it’s vital we draw a line in the sand regarding control of ourselves, our dreams, our rights, our spirits. It is clear we are all privy to the puppet show, it’s up to you to decide if you are gonna pay for the ticket.”

Turbid North release video for ‘Pyramid Drones’

Alaskan Mountain Metal crew Turbid North have launched a brand new video for the track ‘Pyramid Drones’. The song is taken from their second full length album ‘Eyes Alive’ which is penned for release on 30th September via Apocalyptic Witchcraft. The album is released on limited edition 180 gram blood red vinyl and comes with a patch.
Vocalist Nick comments:
“The video was shot in an awesome venue we play regularly in Fort Worth, TX called Tomcats West. We rented some lights and one camera on a tripod to film ourselves. Did about 10 takes with different angles. No camera man, completely DIY. It isn’t the most action packed video, but we needed something quick and I really thought it was important to show off the new lineup.”
‘Eyes Alive’ is a concept album based in a dystopian future where the sun is a red giant and life on earth is a constant struggle to survive. The record was a complete DIY effort – recorded, mixed and mastered by vocalist/guitarist Nick Forkel at his Black Ram Studios.
Forkel explained:
“When we started to write this album our original singer and other guitarist left the band very early in the process. We decided to carry on as a 3 piece and continued writing. We wrote for a solid month, recording everything we did, then I took all those recordings and basically wrote the songs out of those jam sessions over the next couple of months.”
