Descendants of Tethys is an album released in May 18, 2016, by the Electronic Deep Space Ambient project Cold Womb Descent. Consisting of nine tracks, being them Return to the Origins of Life, A Liquid Furnace of Elements, Into Basic Proteins They Assemble, The Crystal of Flesh, the Machine of Soul, A Miracle Against the Stream of Entropy, Dead Ammonite Lies Upon the Stones, Depths of the Fallen, The Cycle of Natural Selection and Out of the Water, Conquerors of Lands, Cold Womb Descent really does a very outstanding work with their most recent album, a cosmic journey of sound and imagination, randomly wandering throughout an ambivalent space filled with its own stars, galaxies and dreams, in a trance like state on which our innermost ambitious secrecies prevails, over the rooftop of a universe filled with gregarious, but somewhat sorrowful, vast and serene despondencies.

The music on this album is a marvelous example of excellent, transcendental and sensitive atmospheric electronic music. Conjuring an ambience that invites the listener to create for himself a deep and profound meditative element of resourceful reliability, the music on Descendants of Tethys is filled with cosmological fractures that reinvents constantly our emotions throughout the tracks, presenting a more delicate side of the harmonies usually intertwined in electronic music. A full deep space odyssey bestowed in an exhilarating trait of cosmic intuition, Descendants of Tethys is an outstanding journey of softly vibrating and resonating dynamic sequences, aligned with the beauty of elements that condenses knowledgeable scientific life, easily paced rhythms, beautiful compounding harmonies, inter textual transcendence and gracious flexible linearity, all specially tied together to compose an interesting layer of melodic galaxies compelled to explore the musical boundaries of the unknown.

Being also a very “easy listening” ambient album, Descendants of Tethys supplies with beautiful and deeply categorical harmonies all the basic lines of electronic space ambient music, although extends the boundaries of the genre by introducing more experimental headlines, fulfilling with very creative organic ideas the songs’ harmonic lines, borrowing no limitations to their selective grasp of effervescent intuitive dynamism. As a result, Descendants of Tethys turned out to be a very laborious, but gracious work, with a promising result. As an intriguing ambient space album deeply cosmological, its sonorous groundwork of primordial revocation reflects beauty in all four sides of its unprecedented zone of instantaneous taste for fearless innovation, setting up a landmark of defenseless imagination, that reinstates the mind as the sole adventurer of a greatly impressive sonorous journey throughout the infinity. Renovating the basic rules that forms the basis of the genre, Cold Womb Descent’s most recent work is a profound, intense and rejuvenating force for ambient space music, being able to stand perfectly between innovation and tradition: while they easily play and respect the usual boundaries of the genre, they arbitrarily rebuild, with their own creative minded inclination towards a phosphorescent, opalescent and luminescent sonorous ambitious creation, a new framework for ambient melodic transcendence, demolishing the stagnating alignments and conservative patterns that holds the genre in a retroactive scale of poignant devices.

With its nine tracks perfectly holding altogether a beautiful set of a thoroughly consistent deep space journey, Descendants of Tethys is certainly not just one of the most beautiful albums of the genre to be released this year, but also one of the most relevant of the category, being possibly considered a cult classic in the near future. Beautiful harmonies, astounding frequencies, serene atmospheric dreamscapes, the quiet marvelous loneliness of space and – as a surprise – the last song, a beautiful vocal track, has everything to keep you up, dreaming, while you’re awake, listening to this poetic journey throughout the cosmos. So, listen, and enjoy! You will have the most transcendental, peaceful and marvelous journey you ever had the chance to experience, in your entire life, for the sake of music.
