Lunaris is the most recent album by polish black metal band Arkona, released by French Record Label Debemur Morti Productions. With six tracks – Droga do ocalenia, Ziemia, Śmierć i odrodzenie, Nie dla mnie litość, Lśnienie and the title track, Lunaris – this album is a very personal and infuriated vision of black metal, although very philosophic and reflexive at the same time. Agonizing, but beautiful in the personal acquisition of a sonorous dark confidence, Lunaris is a very intense album, with a set of reflexive melodies that seems to purify the soul, while at the same time, manages to reveal to its listeners the abhorrent and delusional deceptions hidden in the most malevolent side of the human soul.

Compelling to show an array of magnificent melodies, hidden in the vast and dark sensibilities of the human mind, Lunaris unveils on the shadows of its rhythms the serene realms of the spirit, as well as the conglomerate aspirations of the most decimate abnormalities of the human nature. Filled with an intensity that talks directly to the spirit, Lunaris is an album filled with plenitude. Never destitute of consistency, the album carries in the passage of its beautiful and content melodies the great desire of an ecstatic scape.

Sidelined by beautiful and consonantal symphonic melodies – with a very prudent, but corrosive heaviness always conformed to the sonorous spectacle of an eternal and lucid gigantic moonlight – the six tracks of this album presents us a very different path and a more coherent rereading of black metal as a genre. Passionately displaying a great and marvelous intuition of the rhythms in general over a monumental collision of ethereal worlds full of thoughts, Lunaris turns out to be a very subtle and coercive masterpiece, aligned with the eternity of an unforgettable night, forever lost in a dimension created by the collective thought of human ambitions.

Nonetheless, filled with beauty, and perpetuated by an enigma vividly bought by the poetic vastness of an immensurable sound, Lunaris apparently opens a new chapter in the history of black metal. With a methodic and poetic approach towards the sound, Arkona has really surpassed all expectations, concerning excellence. Reinventing black metal as a form of art, and as such, reinstating its relevance in the contemporary world, Lunaris as an album outstands vividly as a dark landscape, forever lost in the shadows of a world doomed to be liberated below.
