Before I go do useful stuff in and around the house, I'd like to quickly present you with this little blast of brutal death metal from Swedish growlers Arreat Summit. Usually I forward review submissions for death metal albums to Paul but once in awhile I'd like to do one myself, especially if they're loaded with darkness, intensity, flashing guitars and inhuman drums. So get ready for eight minutes of sonic torture.
There's two tracks on this single, each of them being a brutal, slamming but often melodic piece of modern death metal. Fans of the genre, and especially fans of bands like Job For A Cowboy or Black Dahlia Murder, should not ignore this. It's a brilliant blend of melodic Götheborg metal with brutal slam death metal which will make many heads bang from now on. Judging from this, I wouldn't be surprised if these guys become the next big thing in the genre.
