American death/doom band Bittered and Lost Apparitions label will come up with a special and exclusive premiere on Record Store Day, namely a video-vinyl record, containing not only the songs from their new ep 'Government Oppression', but also video clips, studio and live recordings from those exact songs. The secret is a newly designed vinyl pressing procedure where extra data can be added to the grooves. The procedure was invented by David Richards at Paskil Electronics in Philadelphia. He explains:

"When I was a kid, I loved to listen to my parent's vinyl records. I hated CDs, probably because my father firmly stated that vinyl sounded better. It wasn't until DVDs were invented that I became interested in the medium. Finally it had an advantage over vinyl. So when Matthew and I founded Paskil Electronics, we both had a dream to focus on. Mine was this vinyl pressing procedure while Matthew was fascinated by software. Soon after, someone suddenly invented a record player with USB connection and from there this idea was born. We combined both our dreams and took this giant step".

Kasey (Bittered): "Stush Hench from Lost Apparition Records is a mutual friend of David and I. He told me about this invention of his while we were drinking after one of our gigs with Bittered. Two of the songs we played there were filmed. David told me he could print both music and video on vinyl. None of us believed it, of course, but he seemed legit. So we played along and started filming the other videos in the next few weeks. Now, we're fucking proud of this accomplishment. It's like that golden record that Nasa attached to one of their rockets, but with our music".

The ep will be released on Record Store Day. It will not be cheap (about $30) and somewhat bigger than a normal vinyl album but personally, I'd think it would make a great investment. Anyone who owns a record player with a USB connection should be able to play the record. Just plug the record player into your computer and enjoy the show. Paskil Electronics will obviously go on improving their unique product and plan several other releases in the future. They also mentioned that they're going to try to make it cheaper...
