So, this is already the fourth Album from these Italians. Sincere late eighties style speed/thrash metal that is very convincing and point on! Motorhead meets early Kreator is the vibe I am getting this time around but there's still plenty of Venom worship!

The production is perfect for their style. There is a cool cover of Farao's 'Eleg'.  It's great and I'd like to see them remake the video as well, it would trip the fuck out of me (here is the original and video from Farao https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNKZTgJjH6U ) ...

So anyway, back to the album.  If you're into anything from the eighties speed metal scene (as the bands I mentioned here) then this is a must have for your arsenal. Even if you're not it will still rip your head off.  Awesome band and an awesome album! Just as entertaining as watching a rat fuck a pit pull, yes and that is entertaining!

The things that alcohol can lead to... After a few too many beers at a metal festival, Tim Kuntze and Johannes Mikulits decided to start a band.  Soon after, other members joined in an Speedwhore was born.  That was in 2006.  Today, they present their first full-length album (after a few singles and demos throughout the years).  Tomorrow, they will probably conquer a multitude of stages throughout their homeland Germany and the rest of Europe.  You have been warned...

What sets Speedwhore apart from many other bands, is the brilliant blend of black metal, thrash/speed metal, hardcore punk and doom.  The album opens with some Black Sabbath riffs before
'The Call' rages on in sheer Impaled Nazarene meets King Diamond style.  I'm almost constantly reminded of the glorious days of Candlelight and Season Of Mist releases, which were always fantastic back in the days.

'The Machine' feels like a blackened punk rock song and 'Secret Science' surprises with an odd mix of down to mid tempo metal and some electronics.  At this point, I don't even care who or what influenced this band, I've just started banging my head the way I banged it to Metallica's 'For Whom The Bell Tolls'.  'Too Late To Pray' once again comes up with fierce thrash riffs and blackened screams.

What this album mostly reminds me of, is the musical archaeology I was occupied by in my late teens and early twenties.  I went to the library and borrowed records from Venom, Sacred Steel, Sacred Reich and so on.  I discovered so much in those day and it's all here in this awesome album (except for Dead Can Dance, there's no Dead Can Dance on this one).  With that in mind, I can only say, 'hurray for beer' because without I wouldn't be listening to this gem right now.

Oh man, this album really is a pleasure to listen to.  I'm forty one but I feel like eighteen, discovering the wonderful world of metal.  If you're a fan of any old school extreme metal, I guess this is something right up your alley.  Speedwhore is the future of old school and the future is indeed now...

Warhawk - Down In Hell

Time for a throwback.  We're going straight back into the eighties and dwell in the realms of traditional thrash and speed metal.  Fasten your spiked seatbelts and warm up the muscles in your necks.  We're about to step on a ferocious ride, loaded with fast drums, brutal riffs and shrieking thrash vocals, courtesy of Italian quintet Warhawk.

Warhawk hails from Venice and has been around since 2012.  All band members seem to be trash metal fans but have been active in an array of different bands such as Etrom, Melets Occasus, Warmonger, Ammonio and Moshpits.  Although they all listened to this kind of metal before, they never actually played it, until now.  Furthermore, they add a decent amount of power metal, resulting in highly energetic and epic songs.

Being experienced musicians and all, they certainly recorded a number of highly convincing songs.  Seven to be exact.  Each of them is a fast, often hyperspeed, metal song with high pitched vocals which remind me of something between Overkill and Iron Maiden.  Other influences seem to come from bands like Gravedigger, Judas Priest, Metal Church and Nuclear Assault.  Not a bad bunch of names to be influenced by, if you ask me.

What Warhawk does is actually far from original or unique but that doesn't matter.  I can easily imagine heads banging and moshpits forming when these guys perform these songs on stage.  Songs like 'Bloody Brawl', 'Rising From The Dump' and 'The World I Have Enough' could be live favorites, slamming flashing solos and sheer speed in the faces of the audience members.

My personal favorite however, is 'The Dark Road', which brings me right back to those good old days of heavy metal where the beer was still cheap, the volume was still massive and the chick were still willing.  Boy, I had some great times in those days.  It's really a good thing that bands like Warhawk revive that spirit and proves that good metal never dies.  So, my fellow thrashers, check out this band and relive the glory of the old school.
