Centipede hails from Finland. Formed in 2011, they have been working on their distinct version of doom loaded stoner metal for several years now. In 2013 they released a first ep, title 'Brazen Bull' and soon (in March apparently) this debut full-length is released upon the world. 'Sarnath' simply is a crushing piece of fuzzed-out metal, something between Kyuss and Motorhead perhaps. If you like your music heavy and hazy, this is your thing.
Opener 'Drown' immediately shows what this band stands for: brute power. With old school doom metal riffs, pounding drums and a raspy voice, Centipede makes a crushing impact from the get-go. From then on, we're on an immersive ride through a mysterious and hypnotic world, highlighting in the groovy 'Frostbite'. It isn't until the drony breather 'Abyssal' that Centipede take a step back, only to rage on again in 'Black Mead'.
I'm definitely expecting this band to appear on several stoner rock festivals in 2016, where undoubtedly they will awe large audiences with their powerful sound. Many heads will bang, many stages will dive and many crowds will surf. Wait, that doesn't sound right, something's wrong with that sentence. Anyway, stoner rockers of the world, buy this album, it's awesome and you deserve it...
