Although there is nothing exceptional on Ciudades Invisibles, they have a thoroughly well done and marvelously executed post rock, cast in the traditional mold of the genre. Vibrating and dissonant guitar lines do a marvelous work circumnavigating the rhythms, and the melodies effusively sleep in a dream-like state, overpowered by a consciousness that reads harmonies hidden in the surface of the eyes of the moon.
With rich, vast and consistent melodies, that knows how to create a volatile beauty into the wider circle of a profoundly sonorous poetic light, the record is abundantly ordained by the soft intricacies of ghostly imperative nuances, that adorn with melancholic beauty the shape of responsive melodies, validated by the sensibility of a world written in dust.
An intelligent and wise album, Ciudades Invisibles unfortunately resents itself of monotonous moments, but nothing that seriously compromise its overall dynamics, expressively beautiful, gentle and delicate harmonies, and coherent musical structure. With a sagacious stream of artistry, Ciudades Invisibles manages to be an inspiring record, with a translucent spiritual chain of unbreakable harmonies, that transforms empires of dust into an empirical universe of emotional castles, perfectly sidelined by harmonies of inventive audacity.
Although Ciudades Invisibles can’t be considered a post rock masterpiece, Cian is definitely in the right way. With proverbial musical skills, a vigorous creative potential and a serious competent technicality, they proved themselves to be a very interesting band. Certainly, we all should keep an eye on them. They will probably surprise us all, in the near future. With precisely the same amount of dedication and energy, displayed on this album with intensity, they will achieve unprecedented milestones in the post rock scenario. You can be sure about that.
