Milieu Archives: Two is an album released by American Post Rock group Coastlands, on December 23, 2016. With five tracks – being them 85 Belongs to the Dead, Be still, Oblivion, Going Bridge, Flora and Fauna and Lest I Yearn: Influx – what we have here is a fantastic and very consistent album, that has abundantly all the elements a formidable Post Rock record is expected to have. With very diluted harmonies, that rely more on the construction of a very sinister, but cohesive atmosphere, than intricate and dispersive melodies, Milieu Archives: Two is an impressive album, faithful and loyal to the most esoteric and audacious components of the genre, although it digresses a little, on proverbial aspects, upon which Coastlands impresses their own stylish trademark to the sound, with vigor, strength, passion and audacity.

Shaping a sonorous ambient line of serenity and lucidity, that overwhelms your soul with an eternal haze of infinity and dust, Coastlands slowly build with their sound a maze of purity and sensibility, upon which your spirit is expected to rest, to endure the intense odyssey you’re supposed to understand, with their joyful, but somewhat enigmatic sound.

With a very melodic setting, that makes you feel like dreaming, even knowing that you’re fully awake, Milieu Archives: Two is a very dense album, that insists to deeply verify into your soul the correlations of a system that apparently has died within you, but you haven’t admitted to yourself that such an event has compromised your existence. Within a very sensible sound, that takes your soul to sleep into a different side of life, your fragility undergoes a parallel journey of undefined paroxysm, that undermining the solidity of such a ruthless antagonism, seems to comply with the magnificence and the integrity of such an ethereal path of scathing precision. But all of this vision is just an expectation, punctuated by a sound that manages to be as versatile as static, at the same time.

With an harmonic lucidity that creates different frames for the same world, Milieu Archives: Two builds on the expansion of a very personal sonorous reality the perspective of a universe that evolves from the lines of a very delusional and oblique panel, holding elements on the verge of its harmonies that only the protuberant stream of an amazingly salutary distinction could achieve, on the borders of its rhythms. With the elegance of a proverbial sensibility that perpetuates the life of its wonderful world of haze and mysticism, Coastlands has created a majestic and categorical work of art, that stands beyond any criticism.
