When Fire Engulfs the Earth is the first album by Dark Oath, a Portuguese symphonic melodic death metal band from Coimbra. Despite being on the run since 2009, it is only now, in 2016, that the band’s debut is finally out, with ten tracks that really hail them as a great and remarkable promise in the field of melodic symphonic metal in their native country, with potential to become a favorite in the underground scene worldwide.

With a great degree of sonorous response, creative guitar lines, focus, energy and an interesting ability to combine altogether all the necessary elements to compose pure and refreshing melodies easily recognizable as belonging to the genre of symphonic melodic metal, Dark Oath on their debut certainly has created a beautiful, cohesive, coherent and straightforward work of art, that will rapidly transcend, declare and find a way towards its audience, unambiguously evoking and materializing in all their musical directions and components the correct amount of energy that reunites the most powerful and syncretic enthusiasm ever found on the genre, that sounds refreshingly original and insanely wonderful, which makes Dark Oath not only quite unique, but a remarkable revelation and a salutary promise in the emerging metal scene nowadays.

Reinvigorating the genre with a surprising degree of refreshing new energy, marvelous resounding rhythms that conglomerates all the rainbows below the shadows of existence, a poetic scatology that shines behind condescending saturated eyes and a demanding energy that never relies in the easily faded clouds of an obscure forgetfulness, extremely energetic guitar lines that pulses throughout the sonorous waves of harmonious devices flowing by the wind of one’s soul makes them feel almost alive at the core of your senses, urging the music to be seen, heard and felt through the ever increasing sensitivity of your skin. So you rapidly wonder how much energy these musicians put into their music, since you can literally feel at the very own core of their force the source of the roots of the vibration of the marvelous resonance of their sound, pulsating throughout the field of your soul.

When Fire Engulfs the Earth is certainly quite a debut! A great album that really feels alive in the wingspan of its own force of wonder, audacity and excellence, it is astoundingly structured over the correct amount of motivation, righteousness, virtuosity and harmony. With a great, compelling and powerful convergence of instruments perfectly aligned to play together a majestic conglomeration of empiric symphonies beautifully arranged to produce a spectacle of melodic galaxies, When Fire Engulfs the Earth, Dark Oath’s amazing debut, is an album that definitely has everything to shine through, and define new boundaries for the genre. This is an album that rapidly will become a cult favorite, and an underground classic. And it does have all the perfect reasons to achieve such a worthy recognition.
