With sonorous components that reveal a great respect for tradition as well, Spiritus/ Sulphur unravels the development of an authentic and superior style, already solid and mature, that has everything to score a higher goal on the scene. With beautiful arrangements, and compelling melodies, the six songs we have on this album are not only poetically aligned and surreal, but elevating, sincere and captivating as well. As far as my evaluation goes, you can listen to this majestic record without any fear, since it’s undoubtedly the best in the genre, ever to be conceived in the Brazilian underground scene.
With strong harmonies, a calmer and serene sonorous line, and a highly sensible path of musical understanding, Dead Limbs is an incredible band that really measures and evaluates their own creative potential, knowing precisely what they can do and what they are capable of doing. And as a result, this formidable masterpiece proves how creativity and talent work well together.
Spiritus/ Sulphur is certainly a groundbreaking album. A promise delivered and fulfilled, it’s evidently one of the best atmospheric black metal albums ever to be created. With no flaws, minor moments or generic passages, all musical components on this record can be highlighted as an apex of musical sagacity. Marvelous from the beginning until the end, the painful exhilaration of a cosmic sorrow is perfectly combined with the deleterious destitution of a world doomed to be engulfed by the aggressive shadows of a never-ending darkness. And on the majestic sidelines of this unrestrained and decisive musical horizon, Dead Limbs delivers one of the best atmospheric black metal strikes that you will ever going to listen.
