Embrional is an unholy quartet from Poland and short for Embrional Necrophilism, an agressive and nihilistic form of death metal, often mixed with some black metal influences. They have been active for quite some time and released several full-lengths, e.p.'s and demo's before embarking on their latest demonic quest. The Devil Inside, a 42-minute lasting corporal punishment, is filled with technical and often complicated riffs, loads of blastbeats and brutal growls.
The intro sounds like the first paragraph of this review. Embrional really is welcoming us into a place where no person should ever go. What follows is a violent assault in the vein of bands like Vomitory, Aborted or Six Feet Under, perfectly suited to headbang yourself a brain injury. This is about as brutal, hellish and horrifying as music can get.
Besides all the brutality, there's actually a lot of variation and an immense technical level of musical craftsmapship present on The Devil Inside. In the past twelve years, Embrional definitely gained a lot of experience, both with their instruments as in songwriting capacity. This experience constantly shines through, making it a very mature sounding album, which is something extreme metal bands often lack.
From a lyrical standpoint, this album is as hateful and distasteful as it can get. The protagonists in these lyrics do not have a very enjoyable time, that's for sure. But you know, probably they deserved it so f**k'em, right? This album is extreme, intense and actually simply awesome, a highly convincing example of modern day death metal and a true recommendation for fans of the wicked and the extreme.
