The band hails from Italy, Turin to be exact. Founded from the ashes of a local doom metal act, Firelord has been going through several line-up changes since 2007 but that never seemed to harm the energy. I hope the line-up is solid now because this is the stuff for the European stoner stages. Opener 'A Good Day To Die' is arguably one of the best stoner rock songs I've heard, certainly as far as uptempo songs are concerned. Judging from this one alone, these are the Foo Fighters of the stoner scene.
The other songs aren't as brilliant and massive as the opener but there's certainly a lot of quality here. Influenced by everything from Black Sabbath to Black Label Society, these guys came up with a very immersive version of the genre, making songs like 'Dancing On Your Grave' and 'Hammer Of Chaos' possible live favorites. Byt the end, Firelord treats us to a great version of Sloburn's 'Pilot Of The Dune', which is once again quite irrisistable. So if you're a stoner rock fan, what are you waiting for? You do need this ep...
