I like my music noisy. I just can't help it . Feedback, screeching, tape hiss,  clanking, endless delay,  tons of reverb, buzz and fuzz... This has been a constant in my entire life and it spans across all my musical interests, across all genres. It's not that I don't listen to clean, well-produced music but there is just something about noise that I find irresistible. Perhaps it is the physical feeling you get when you crank up the volume of something that is noisy. Perhaps it's the way that noise doesn't leave any 'gaps' in the flow of a song. It makes it more complete, more 'whole'.. Well for me it does, individual results may vary.

One thing I hope the results won't vary on is the amount of appreciation for Forevr. This Australian duo is yet another one of those acts, that if you are into shoegaze, you just need to hear. 'Demonstration' has everything you could want from high-quality shoegaze. Four noisy sexy songs full of jangly reverbed guitars, hazy vocals buried in the mix, tons of fuzz and hiss. It's hard not to mention the influence of My Bloody Valentine and others but Forevr take that influence and create something that is very much their own thing around it. One thing that stands out, and I made a brief mention of it already, is the incredible sexy feeling that oozes from the songs. Like some people put on Barry White to get in the mood, I can imagine shoegazers putting this on repeat. My wife is not really keen on all the noisy racket I listen to so you'd have to tell me if it works.. Which is fine because Forevr works just as well on your own, with your soundsystem cranked to eleven, or a pair of good headphones turned up equally loud. Tinnitus be damned.

Let's face it, shoegaze is hot at the moment (there are even people who use the horrible term 'Nugaze'). Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It has brought us bands like Dissolve, Modern Charms, Nothing, Whirr, No Joy... I don't know much about the Australian shoegaze scene, but if Forevr are anything to go by we are in for a treat when more bands step into the limelight. Highly recommended. Sadly it's only an EP, barely clocking in at 18 minutes, but I'm pretty sure we will hear more of them in the future.. Until then, this goes on repeat.
