One track, thirty four minutes of gloomy ambient bliss, that's what you get on this release by Denver, CO, USA resident (ghost). Usually, this act blends ambient with techno and IDM but for this album he left the beats and breaks in the drawer. Instead, the track is loaded with gentle soundscapes and atmospheric ambient, gradually evolving into an epic ambient journey. This is the stuff I like, that's for sure.
The track opens quiet and slowly varied and evolves into a murky adventure where strange, distant voices are guided by equally otherworldly drones and soundscapes. Here and there a hint of melody comes shining through but these never get the upperhand. This one delves deep into the mysterious world of atmospheric ambient and reminds me of acts like CHVE, Syndrome and Dirk Serries, but in a more electronic way.
Obviously, this one comes highly recommended. For me, it has become a competitor for album-of-the-year in our "breeze" section but we'll have to see about that in December. After all, an album is only worthy of an appearance of that list after a big number of listens. I'm sure that over the next few months, this track will often influence the atmosphere in my living room and I suggest you try the same. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
