Many bands these days have been influenced by loads of different genres. Very rarely I can put only one style on top of a review. But how about a band that blends progressive rock with old school doom metal, folk, blues, stoner rock and death metal? Yeah, it happens sometimes, but I never had to mention all those genres in one song. I do now, and with damn good reason too. In eighteen minutes, this act blasts thirty years of rock music through my speakers.

Goddess is a band from Norway and have been influenced by more bands than you can name in eighteen minutes. From Black Sabbath and Om, over Porcupine Tree and Neurosis to Pink Floyd, High On Fire and Deep Purple, they're all here. Even the vocals range from clean singing to guttural death growls and back again. Oh, and there is a Hammond organ, so there's absolutely no reason to be bored by this single.

Well, this thing got me curious and I'm anxious to hear more from these guys. Can they keep up with the massive genre-blending approach or do they have to rethink their writing style? As far as I'm concerned, they don't have to rethink anything. Instead, they should just focus on recording more of this musical madness and bring this circus to Desertfest Antwerp in October? Yes, that's a hint...
