Ever since I discovered grindcore, I've been fascinated by the extreme brutality of the genre.  I'm not really an active listener but I can appreciate most of the sickened sounds these guys make.  Not only the 'funny' ones like Excrementory Grindfuckers but also, and more often, the pestilential preachers of everything loathsome and degrading.  Enter EveryDayHate, a Polish grindcore label, focusing on 'badass records'.  This one is already a smashhit and maybe even the most varied grindcore split in ages.

Haemophagus is a rotten quartet from Palermo, Italy.  They delivered two tracks for this album and with these, they climb to the top of my personal grindcore ladder.  'Hibernated World' is a massive, slow and intense piece of death metal that reminds me a bit of Napalm Death's 'Evolve As One'.  Hence the 'top of the ladder' metaphore, I really dig this kind of stuff.  'Monsters In The Park' is a lot faster, coming close to bands like Obituary or Pungent Stench. There's even a bit of dirty ol' blues here.

Their split-collegues Subjugation hail from Ankara, Turkey and delivered three pathological incantations of twisted guitars, blast beats and guttural vocals.  Here the hardcore punk attitude is very present and the songs blast through my speakers in hyperspeed.  Of the three songs, 'Trembling on Broken Glass' probably is my favourite, a sonic wall-of-death which has enough power to crush everything in sight.  Yet, so are the other two songs.

Anyway, if you're sick of this vulgar gathering of absolute insanity we hesitantly call 'our society' and you feel like blasting all the stress out of your body, give this 7" a shot.  It's a prime example of modern day grindcore and it's direct influences.  With stuff like this, no extreme metalhead can go wrong, that's for sure...
