Hellhookah, founded in 2012, borrows elements from vintage doom and traditional heavy metal to create their own sound. Of course, that means massive riffs and pounding drums, guiding a strong, clean voice. Besides, it also means that bands like Pentagram, Cathedral, Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus often come to mind.
My favorite tracks include opener 'A Storm In The Hidden World' and the brilliant classic rock anthem 'The Way'. However, all the songs breathe this awesome wind of old school doom metal and each of them is a great tribute to the mighty power of the riff.
As good as Hellhookah are, there is always room for improvement. Adding a few members to the band seems like a good idea but what this act certainly needs is a label. These guys are talented and truly deserve bigger exposure, a professional recording studio and a good producer. This music is way too good to remain hidden in the doom underground.
