Time to throw some obscure black metal into the mix here at Merchants Of Air.  This time we're going to Ukraine, Simferopol, Crimea to be exact.  Here we roam the dark forests of extreme metal while listening to some gloomy pagan black metal.  Ildverden seems to grasp tightly onto the obscurity-factor since I can find very little information about this one-man project.  It has been active since 2007 and released a number of albums, but that's all I can find out.

However, that doesn't seem to matter very much.  After all, we're here for the music.  In that aspect, expect some dark, primitive and raw black metal, pressed into five quite long tracks and one enormous, twenty minutes lasting eops of fierce black metal.  Obviously, that one comes with a lot of variation in tempo and even with some folk elements.  Yet, the main part of 'Прорікання Вельви', as it's titled, is high-speed ferocity, almost inhuman.

That counts for most of the tracks actually, and on some occasions I wonder what this album would have sounded like with a state of the art production. That would make the already intriguing song 'Темніч чорна йде за мною' a highly impressive piece of work.  Yet, the lo-fi production actually gives the whole an extra sense of credibility and, again, obscurity.  It reminds me a lot of those tape demos I often bought in the nineties which sounded like horrible noise from the gates of hell.

Yes, that is a compliment, most black metal fans will know that. This is the sonic equivalent of pure evil, not to be ignored if you're into this kind of stuff.  So check it out, play it loud and let that bleak, misanthropic and haunting atmosphere roll over you.  It's worth the effort... To conclude, the album title translates as 'Black Midnight Follows Me', another sign of a very dark soul behind this music.
