The bandmembers themselves prefer the term 'War Metal', which is quite appropriate here. In that aspect, the album reminds me a bit of Marduk and other war-mongering black metal acts. The bandname actually translates loosely as 'Alongside War'. It seems like they're right, we are living in times of war and we have been doing that since homo sapiens roamed the earth. But let's not go into depressive details and philosophies here, let's check out this awesome album.
Justabeli is mainly influenced by European black metal acts, mostly the old school from Scandinavia. Immortal, Belphegor, Dissection... they all are named, along with other extreme bands like Morbid Angel and Slayer. So yes, this is a trio of hardcore metalheads who know a thing or two about brutal, in-your-face style music and they're not afraid to show it. Opener 'Die In War' immediately sets the pace for the entire album by turning into an almost classic black metal song.
'A Face Da Morte' is probably my favorite track on this album. It shows the thrash metal influences and at some points even reminds me a little bit of King Diamond. 'Infected By Radiation' then comes up with something a little different, namely melodic death metal infused blackened brutality. As if In Flames meets up with Mayhem to create the most vile music on earth. All those different elements and influences surely make this a well-varied album.
So if you're into the old European school of black metal, it's time to get on the plane or boat and check these guys out. Of course, you can just go to bandcamp page and order the damn thing. You will not be disappointed, I almost promise you. Yes, 'almost', after all, I have no idea who you are and what you like. Yet, knowing a little something about black metal, I can honestly say that this is a stunning piece of work and definitely one that deserves your attention.
