Khors started as a trio in 2004 and recorded four albums even since. Over the years their style evolved into more complex song structures, without even losing the bleak and haunting atmosphere. The debut album I'm reviewing now, seems to be highly influenced by bands like Dimmu Borgir, Khold and Summoning. The majority of the music drives on a mid-tempo black 'n roll pace, enhanced by keyboards. Once in awhile the tempo goes up but there are not as many blast beats as with most black metal albums.
However, that doesn't matter. In fact, this atmospheric black 'n roll style is brilliant and I already regret the fact that I didn't know the band before. If I encountered this in 2005, it might have become one of my all-time favorite black albums. This certainly brings a breath of fresh air in the scene, showing a different path to young bands. So I'm just going to end this review by recommending this piece of work to any black metal fan who wants something different than the current post-era.
