Anyway, on to the music because in the end, that's what we're all here for. Allow me to introduce Kopper8, a metal band from Ile de France. Besides the language, there are some other surprising elements. Judging from the cover, you would expect either gothic metal or black metal, or a blend of the two. Yet, what we get on 'Addiction' is a brutal piece of thrash metal, accompanied by a rough voice, almost Gorefest-like.
So I had to get used to this album for a while, listen deeper than the previously mentioned elements and then, suddenly, the influences of bands like Machine Head, Slayer and Lamb Of God became clear. Shortly after, I was fiercely banging my head to massive songs like 'Evangili' and 'Patrie'. Damn, that 'Patrie' is an awesome piece of metal.
Other bands that come to mind are Children Of Bodom and Black Label Society, which of course means furious thrash riffs and usually a raging speed. Pure metal, a sound that any headbanger can appreciate. In fact, on stage songs like 'Born To Die', 'La Haine' or 'Hategod' could easily cause moshpits, crowdsurfers and stagedivers. Besides, about gothic metal, there's a little bit of that in the heavy ballad 'L'Eloge De La Folie'.
So in the end, the album really seems to grow on the listener, or at least on me. This is simply an excellent and intense metal album that any fan of the previously mentioned bands should check out. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to my kitchen and bang my head brutally while doing the dishes. Horns up!!!
