The act reminds me of bands like Hemelbestormer and Landlôs. Immersive post-rock elements are being alternated by harsh outbursts of black metal. Yet, what really surprises me, is how Lauxnos manages to combine the two, even though the main influences are decades apart. Post-rock is a relatively new genre while the blackened passages on this album reach back to the raw, thrash induced black metal of the nineties.
Here, both come together in an epic orgy of soundscapes, riffs and drums, indulging the listener in a strange, mysterious world where anything can happen. There are even some clean vocals, reminding me a bit of dark folk bands, raising the level of approval. Lauxnos certainly moved into an enthralling direction with this work, promising great things for the future. Man, I hope this one-man project turns into a full band and tours Europe soon...
