Very soon in the album, halfway through opener 'Let The Carnyx Sound Again' to be exact, I'm overwhelmed by the blistering sound of this album. Intentionally, the album is sold as a black metal album but I think this stuff would please fans of Samael, Darkthrone and At The Gates alike. 'Melted Flesh' brings the melodic approach of the inspiring Scandinavian scene and even adds a touch of Saturnus and other doom metal acts.
I can even hear some old Arch Enemy here, when they still had a male vocalist. There's some solid riffing and brutal vocals present on these tracks, ranging from death growls to ferocious screams. Also worth mentioning is the thick sound of the guitars. They seem to turn a track like 'Labyrinth Of Souls' into an old school version of Samael, something that I can truly appreciate and I know for a fact that I'm not the only one.
That being said, some of the tracks on this album are damn catchy and highly immersive. It's quite difficult to remain quiet while listening to this. Lutece's music raises your adrenaline level, rushes the blood through your body and unloads a great deal of energy upon the listener. Not headbanging is a real challenge and I guess that it would be even harder during a live performance.
I mean, just listen to title track 'From Glory Towards Void'. This is one drilling piece of metal which gives new meanings to the word 'ferocity'. And it certainly isn't the only song that does that. Personally, I've heard a lot of extreme stuff coming from France but I must say that I'm highly impressed by this band. It might be one of the best extreme metal bands from that country, this album certainly is...
