This Canadian quartet is pretty pissed-off but luckily for us they out their anger with an amazing blend of metal, hardcore, noise and punk. I deliberately just mentioned 'metal' without the subgenres. There's elements from pretty much every metal style, except maybe the fairytale gothic stuff. This unique blend turns 'Kill Us, Start Anew', into a very varied album with a distinct focus on heaviness.
This stuff will please a lot of headbangers and moshers. Besides, this music is clearly something for the live stage. The sheer brutality and destructive character will work perfectly in a live setting. In the living room it's a bit too overwhelming and too crushing. The vigorous hardcore riffing and fast drumming are intense and the vocals are brutal.
My favourite tracks are opener 'Born Of Hatred' and closer 'Magnum Opus', which doesn't mean any of the other songs are inferior. All breathe the same malicious atmosphere and absolute despise towards mankind. Yet, I have to say, after listening to this album three times I'm becoming a bit nervous and I feel like punching someone. So, I'm off, see you in prison...
