Aah, rock music, is there anything with a richer history and a wider scope than that? Things have come a long way since the invention of the guitar. Millions of people have been gathering in rehearsal rooms ever since, often coming out with surprising efforts. In the eighties & nineties, things seemed to explode once again with the birth of grunge and alternative rock music, which takes me right into the topic of this review.

Our Blond Covers is a young band from France, formed by childhood friends. They like badass music, including bands like Incubus, Queens Of The Stone Age and pretty much everything that Dave Grohl touches. They willfully submerge themselves in the raunchy atmosphere of grunge music while adding hints of melodic punk rock. The result is a pretty interesting debut ep with five songs that simply breathe "rock" music.

I can recommend this album to anyone who is into rock festivals, mostly because I have a feeling that this will sound even badasser (or is that worse-ass?) in a live setting. Songs like 'Morning Tales', 'Distance' and closer 'Tell Me' can work quite well on stage but they also make perfect road trip music. So check them out before they start recording the smash hits which will elevate these dudes to rock superstars. This ep might be the herald of great things to come for Our Blond Covers...
