When a band's name is an abbreviation for 'Don't give a shit' (French: Rien A Branler), some questions might appear.  One, do you think they really care about I'm going to write in this review?  Two, do they mind me publishing it months after the release date?  Three, Do they mind if I allow my mind to wander off and envision 'Coyote Ugly' style scenes with barely dressed girls dancing on the bar?

So yes, RAB is a French band, from Lyon to be exact.  The band started in a bar, with five guys getting drunk and one of them saying 'we should start a band'.  In 2013 they released 'RAB 1' and played throughout France.  Now, a few years later, they are about to conquer the rest of Europe with the follow-up.  In two years or so, the rest of the world will be able to enjoy this stuff but for now, the old continent gets the grooves.

Because that's exactly what you get on this album: highly energetic pieces of fuzz-loaded stoner rock, drenched in a punk rock attitude.  Opening with the intense tandem 'First Mate' and '70 Virgin Girls', this album kick off in true Desertfest style.  Think Truckfighters, think Queens Of The Stone Age and think Clutch.  But above all, think dirty alcohol fueled rock 'n' roll, moshpits and those Coyote Ugly girls.

Personally, I don't think RAB care what kind of music they make.  In 'Feel Good' I hear flashes of indie rock.  'The Genius Of The Crowd' has a noise rock feel to it.  'Good Old Days' reaches back to the early days of punk rock.  'New Dawn' explores blues, and so on.  The only thing that seems to matter, are energy and good old fashioned fun.  And that is perfectly fine with me.  In fact, it really is time that these guys cross the border.

So, my advice? Well, if you're into the bands I mentioned earlier, you really don't want to miss out on this one.  This is the stuff that will create massive parties in smoked out basement venues where it's way too hot for this kind of activity but nobody seems to care. For the record, I think this will also work pretty well in a professional venue, so don't worry about that.  In short: this rocks!!!
