I'll introduce Dogbeak too before I go into the music. This Dutch project, hailing from Amsterdam, makes slow music, mainly consisting of drones and noise. According to what I can find on his bandcamp page, he recorded two albums since 2012. They're quite interesting too by the way so check it out if you're into experimental ambient.
Now, on to the music on this bizarre collaboration. I don't really know how these guys recorded this or in what way exactly they collaborated but the result is stunning. In four tracks, each of them seems to show fragments of their own projects. Opening track 'Less Thought, More Rock' drives on riffs, and slow but pounding tempo and several soundscapes. This seems to follow TMIBTD previous post-rock related work.
Yet, then there's 'Skulls! Skulls! Skulls!' which reminds me a lot of another Dutch act, Machinefabriek. This is a repetitive ambient-noise piece, by the end gaining harsh guitars and a tiny bit of post-rock feel again. This combination is repeated it the other two tracks, reaching a brilliant highlight in closer 'How To Be Strong', especially when the doom guitars come in.
Fans of drone-ambient and post-rock should really check this out. In a way this is a bit of best from both worlds, the stuff you enjoy with your eyes closed and your mind open. In fact, this material would be very interesting to witness live. Yet, for now, let's just float along with these strange noises and soundscapes, into a world where anything is possible...
