The Prestige a band from France, more correctly Paris, the city of love as it is said. This album however is 'bred from the filthy streets and the heady smell of piss in the metro corridors of Paris', and that is a direct quote from the band itself.  Sounds a bit bitter doesn't it?  Well that is exactly what AMER means in French.

This sets the tone of the entire album, it starts of with the title track 'Amer' that immediately assaults your eardrums but in a positive way, a series of of sounds shoving you (not gently) into the album, it leaves you wondering what the album has more to offer. The second song removes all doubt. This is promising to be a hard and dark album with fast drums ,nice screams, a proper hardcore number, raw and hard the way I personally like it.

Then comes along 'Leger de Main' wich builds up tension to a staggering heights and then lets go with a terrific bit of screaming along the chorus. The rest of the album moves along the same lines 'Negligee' is more melodic start that changes into a heavy hard and loud  track. 'Petite Mort' is different from the rest of the songs it's more positve and light, and shows it's not al bitterness and anger that the band has to offer on this album.

'Cri De Coeur' bids us farewell to the album and does it really well, slowing everything down until you just hear the vocals before everything comes crashing back for a last stand and hard piece of hardcore.

I enjoyed listening to this album, it's hard and heavy and there is no secret that is what I love to hear. The screaming in French was a surprise but works really well and gives the band an own identity. It has a nice live feeling to it and it doesn't sound refined and finetuned in a studio, the way hardcore should be, raw and hard.

If The Prestige keeps up this pace the future will become a lot lighter and less bitter for this French quartet.
